Ford Motor Co. has plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500KR in some style as the 2008 model to be launched at the New York Auto Show will be the most powerful production Mustang ever built.
Commonly know as the ‘King of the Road’ and deservedly so this latest version is powered by a 5.4L supercharged V-8 engine which produces 540 horses at 510 lb-ft of torque.Along with the engine the calibration and the cold air intake system has also been revamped. The energy is transmitted through a six-speed manual transmission supported by 18-inch wheels. With some much energy in store the company fittingly has used carbon-composite material for the hood which ensures that the weight is taken care of. Even the suspension has been refurbished for this latest version. The pricing is not yet available but what we do know is that it will be a limited edition vehicle as only 1000 models will be produced, few of which would be convertibles . Considering all this, the price tag will be definitely hefty, but then customers really don’t mind the price when it comes to these off the line limited edition pieces, do they!
